What we collect — and what we don't

This notice explains how fouresse handles information about your visit to fouresse.ca. We collect very little, and we're specific about what we do collect and why.

Who this notice covers

fouresse is a division of Frostbite Companies Limited, based in Yellowknife, NT. This notice applies to this website only. Consulting engagements with fouresse are governed by separate signed agreements that include their own confidentiality and data-handling terms.

What we collect

Three things, and nothing else.

  • Analytics. Through Google Analytics 4: page views, the page you came from, device type and browser, and approximate location — country and region, never a precise address.
  • Email contact. Whatever you choose to send to hello@fouresse.ca. Typically a name, an email address, and the contents of your message.
  • Hosting logs. Firebase Hosting records standard access logs — IP address, timestamp, user-agent, and the path requested — to keep the site running and to investigate abuse.

We do not run forms, accounts, payments, chat widgets, or marketing pixels on this site.

Why we collect it

To understand which pages are useful, to reply to messages you send us, and to keep the site available and secure. The analytics data is aggregated — we look at trends, not individual visits.

Cookies and similar technologies

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. We don't use marketing or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't fingerprint devices.

Third parties

Two service providers receive data when you visit:

  • Google — Google Analytics 4.
  • Firebase Hosting (Google Cloud) — serves the site and keeps access logs.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Where your data is processed

Google's services may process your data outside Canada — primarily in the United States. PIPEDA permits cross-border processing where reasonable safeguards are in place; we rely on Google's contractual and technical measures.

How long we keep it

  • Analytics — Google's default retention, currently 14 months.
  • Email — for as long as the conversation is useful, then archived in our mail provider per its standard retention.
  • Hosting logs — per Google Cloud's default retention windows.

Your privacy rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you can ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or withdraw your consent to our use of it. Email hello@fouresse.ca to make a request. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

How to opt out of analytics

We automatically disable Google Analytics when your browser sends Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC). You can also opt out by setting the standard Google Analytics disable flag (window['ga-disable-G-2MNBBYNWMP'] = true) before this page's analytics script runs, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or block requests to googletagmanager.com via an extension like uBlock Origin. When any of these are active, we do not initialize analytics tracking for your visit.

Children

This site is not directed at people under 16, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to hello@fouresse.ca and we'll delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and hosted on Google's infrastructure, which provides the underlying security controls. The best protection is the one we already practise: we collect as little as possible, so there is little to expose.

Changes to this notice

When we update this notice, we update the date below. Material changes will also be flagged at the top of the page for a reasonable period.
